Locally, in 2006, the team did well in Jamaica Boxing Board of Control (JBBC) sanctioned events in Kingston, St Ann, Westmoreland and St Elizabeth, and regionally, in the Caribbean Championships held in Trinidad and Tobago 24 June - 02 July 2006. There  two members of the team won silver medals - Lance Corporal Gerrington Richards and Sapper Ricardo Brown.  The team also participated in the Caribbean Boxing Invitational in the Turks and Caicos Islands in October 2006.

The culminating event of the 2006 boxing season was the JDF-sponsored Boxing Barbeque in December at Echo Company in Port Maria.  The event was co-sponsored by JDF Sports Board, the Third Battalion The Jamaica Regiment (National Reserve) and JBBC and attracted boxers from gyms across Jamaica.

JDF is committed to helping the JBBC reestablish boxing as a viable career for young men. The sport is being promoted as a suitable activity wherein youngsters can channel their natural exuberance and aggression into a promising endeavour.

2007 is forecasted to be an active season. The JDF boxing team will be represented at the numerous box-offs to be held across the region to determine the participants for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. In the interim, the team will use its preparatory bouts for their face-off at the CISM Military World Games in India, 14-21 October 2007.
