School Challenge Quiz JDF Style

These two teams getting ready to do battle in the School Challenge Quiz.

With the current operational climate the Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess manage to pulled out all the stop to have their school challenge quiz on Thursday 26 November 2009 at the Garrison Warrant Officers and Sergeant Mess.

The event started on time with the teams parading of all to see.  The event was keenly contested as Units came out to be crowned champion of the Force and ultimately walk away with the Ex-Warrant Officer Class One Cyril Isaacs trophy.

So intense was the competition that last years champion the Jamaica Defence Force Intelligence Unit was dethroned by this years winner 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF) 14 - 9.

This was the third time this event was been held, the first time was in 2006 in which the Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing was not crowned winners.

Like most other School Challenge Quizzes the contestants had a hard time holding their nerves and this was evident in the buzzer section as personnel press the buzzer before time not knowing the answer to the question being asked.

The three judges Captain Joseph Cornwall, Lieutenant Patrick Allen and Lieutenant (junior grade) Rohan Rodgers had to be sharp as the contestants wasted no time answering their questions.

Warrant Officer Class Two Anthony Lysight the President of the Mess Committee said that he thanked everyone present for coming out.  He went on to say that this idea could be sold throughout the Force to the point where we could have a Forces School Challenge Quiz.

This he said would build vide and in part build the morale of the Units.

Gold and silver medals were also presented to the runner-up and second runner-up.
