Jamaica witnessed the installation of its sixth Governor-General on 26 February 2009. The Governor-General holds the highest appointment, Head of State, in Jamaica. The former president of the West Indies Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, Dr Patrick Allen seemed to receive ‘showers of blessings’ and a symbolic ‘new beginning’ as the lawns of Kings House were watered with persistent downpour of rain a few minutes before the ceremony
The Jamaica Military Band provided a fanfare of trumpets which played as the Governor-General His Excellency the Most Honourable Professor Sir Kenneth Hall and his party proceeded to the platform. As soon as they took up their positions on the platform the skilful Jamaica Military Band played the National Anthem in salute of His Excellency.
