Chilean Navy Ship crew visits JDF

On Monday 06 July 2009, the Chilean Ambassador to Jamaica Alfredo Garcia Castelblanco and the Captain of the Chilean Navy Ship ‘Esmeralda’ Pablo Lubascher made a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff Major General Stewart Saunders. To end the visit, the Jamaica Defence Force hosted the Chilean Naval crew in a friendly football match in the afternoon. It was a well contested match as the JDF football team was determined that they would never take a beating at home and the Chilean Naval crew would never back down especially with the Ambassador in attendance. The JDF registered a 3-nil victory over the Chilean Navy.

The teams exchanged gifts after the competition. This friendly game was part of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) which promotes sporting activities among militaries worldwide.
