Major David Anthony Cummings received the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service at the National Honours and Awards presentation held on National Heroes Day, 20 Oct 2008. The lone recipient from the Jamaica Defence Force, Major Cummings was among 127 Jamaicans being recognized for their significant impact on national life.

The Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service may be awarded to officers and other members of the uniformed services who have performed distinguished service or have displayed distinguished conduct or bravery.
