Remembrance Day Parade

Chief of Staff, Major General Stewart Saunders
lays a wreath at the Remembrance Day Parade.

On a day that was mainly overcast Jamaicans took time out to remember those who had lost their lives in World War I and World War II at the Remembrance Day Parade held at the National Heroes Park in Kingston, on 11 November 2007.

The day saw the Governor-General, members of Parliament and the Diplomatic Corps laying wreaths at the cenotaph at the National Heroes Park as a sign of respect for those who had lost their lives.

Minister of National Security, Honourable Derrick Smith
lays a wreath at the cenotaph.

The Jamaica Defence Force provided a Guard of Honour. Also on parade were members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Island Special Constabulary Force, Jamaica Legion and the Royal Air Force Association, Jamaica Combined Cadet Force, Boys’ Brigade, The Scouts Association of Jamaica, Girls Guides Association of Jamaica and the Girls’ Brigade.

Remembrance Day or Armistice Day is a day of commemoration observed in the Commonwealth of Nations and various European countries to commemorate the official end of  World War I.     Two minutes of silence was observed at the ceremony and simultaneously at the church service that was held at the Garrison Church, Up Park Camp.
