In recent months the Vauxhall
High School situated at Windward Road Kingston has been plagued by robberies
and assault on students and teachers by criminal elements from within the
community.
The Ministry of Education through its Education Transformation Programme has
sought the assistance of the Jamaica Defence Force to construct a wall to
alleviate the problem. Funding has been provided by the Office of National
Reconstruction (ONR).
The 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF) was assigned to carry out this task. 3
Construction Squadron commenced work on the project on 15 March 2006. The
work has progressed steadily and is now in the final stage of completion.
Civilian members of the community have been employed as part of the work
force. |
