People’s Republic of China and its Ministry of Defence
continue to foster closer military relations with the Jamaica Defence Force

| The Jamaica Defence Force, in conjunction with China’s Ambassador to Jamaica, hosted a six-member delegation of senior officers from the People’s Republic of China Ministry of National Defence, 10-11August 2006. |

| During the visit a formal agreement was signed by Major General Zhang Bangdong, Chief of Foreign Affairs of China’s Ministry of National Defence and Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, Chief of Staff of the Jamaica Defence Force, on August 10, 2006. The new agreement outlines the terms whereby the Chinese military will provide the JDF with further training opportunities and supply logistics equipment worth RMB Three Million (3,000,000) YUAN or approximately $250,000 USD. |

| “These generous offers are very much appreciated and demonstrate the excellent bilateral relations that exist between Jamaica and the People’s Republic of China and between our two forces,” Rear Admiral Lewin said, following the signing. |
