'Soldier For A Day' Competition Launched
 |
Vice Chairman of the Web Site’s
Governing Committee, Lieutenant Commander Kenneth Douglas (seated),
perused the newly launched Quiz-A-Thon, while other members of the
Web Site Competition Committee looked on. |
Jamaican students now have an opportunity to experience military service
without having to commit to a period of service as required normally of
serving personnel. All that is required of students interested in
serving or simply knowing more about the military is to participate in
the Quiz-A-Thon Competition which was launched from the Information
System Centre of the Jamaica Defence Force Headquarters on 09 January
2006.
Five lucky winners will have the opportunity to accept the top prize of
being a ‘Soldier for a Day’ when the first Quiz-A-Thon ends on 01 March
2006. Special recognition will be given to the school with the most
students attempting the Quiz. All 20 answers for the Quiz are located on
the Web Site as well as the rules governing the competition.
Winners will have the opportunity to experience first-hand what it is
like to be in the various units of the JDF, to meet with the JDF’s Chief
of Staff, and take home pictures and other memorabilia from his or her
enviable ‘day as a soldier’.
