Honduran Loses Leg At Sea
Another daring sea rescue by the Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing

A 34 year-old Honduran, Mr Francisco Queros, employed to a local trawling company as a rigman, had one of his leg severed at the knee while working onboard an 80-foot lobster fishing vessel named LONE STAR. The incident occurred on 29 January 2006, in the vicinity of the Pedro Cays.
The assistance of the Jamaica Defence Force was sought to evacuate the injured seaman. A helicopter was dispatched from the Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing which located the vessel, LONE STAR, some 50 Nautical Miles South South Westerly of Portland Point, Jamaica. The Honduran was successfully hoisted aboard the helicopter and rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston, where he underwent emergency surgery.
The Honduran is reported to be in a stable condition following his surgery.
