Lieutenant Colonel Daniel George Pryce, MVO, MBA, JP, psc,
Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Pryce is a Staff Officer at Headquarters Jamaica Defence Force, with responsibiltiy for Intelligence and Operations.He was born on 05 July 1964 in the parish of St Mary, Jamaica. The last of seven children, he attended St Mary High School from which he graduated in 1983.
Immediately after graduation he joined the Jamaica Defence Force and upon successfully completing the Officer Selection Board, he underwent basic military training at the Jamaica Defence Force Training Depot in Newcastle, St Andrew. In January 1983, he attended the Standard Military Course and subsequently the Regular Career Course at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. On returning to Jamaica he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 05 August 1983.
He was promoted to Lieutenant on 03 January 1985, Captain on 03 January 1989, and Major on 03 January 1996 and to his current rank on 30 November 2002.
In 1985 he attended and successfully completed the Platoon Commanders’ Course at Warminster, England. Colonel Pryce attended other military courses; most noteworthy of which are the Infantry Officer’s Advanced Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA and the United States Marine Corp Command and General Staff College at the Marine Corp University, Quantico, Virginia, USA. Colonel Pryce has the benefit of being trained by both the British and the US Forces and therefore has a reasonable understanding of their military systems.
He is the recipient of the Meritorious medal and the Medal of Honour for General Service having served in Grenada on Operation “URGENT FURY”. He has held a number of military appointments to include Training Major for the Third Battalion The Jamaica Regiment (National Reserve), Detachment Commander for the Jamaica Defence Force Training Depot and Second-In-Command of the Second Battalion The Jamaica Regiment. He is currently the Commanding Officer 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF).
He holds diplomas in Human Resource Management and Business Administration and read for a Masters of Business Administration at the Mona School of Business, University of the West Indies, Mona which he completed in 2006.
Colonel Pryce was appointed Equerry to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her last visit to Jamaica in 2002 and was subsequently made a Member of the Royal Victorian Order for his services. He is a Justice of the Peace for the parish of Kingston.
Colonel Pryce is married to Ann Marie. He is a Christian and an active participant in church life. He enjoys music, reading and sports in general but has a particular interest in motor sports. |
