Staff Officer (Personnel and Administration)
Lieutenant Colonel Milton Hassen Neath, MSc, pjsc

Lieutenant Colonel Milton Neath is an infantry officer in the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) where he is currently the officer in charge of personnel and administration. He has more than two decades of service to the JDF and has served with the United Nations Mission in Haiti.

Lt Col Neath's professional training includes basic officer training at the Indian Military Academy, Dehra Dun, India; Platoon Commander’s Battle Course at the School of Infantry, Warminster, England; Caribbean Junior Command and Staff Course in Jamaica; Defence Management at Cranfield University, Shrivenham Campus, England; Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, United States of America. He has attended several courses in defence studies and peacekeeping operations in the United States, Canada and China.

His appointments in the Jamaica Defence Force include Infantry Platoon and Company Commander; Administrative Officer and Cadre Training Officer at the Training Depot, Newcastle; officer commanding JDF Provost Unit; Assistant Staff Officer for operations at Headquarters JDF; and Directing Staff and Standards Officer at the Caribbean Junior Command and Staff Course.

He is the recipient of the United Nations Medal for service in Haiti, the General Service Medal for service in Haiti and the Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service.

Lieutenant Colonel Neath holds a Masters degree—with distinction—in National Security and Strategic Studies from the University of the West Indies. He is a member of the Jamaica Boxing Association and the Jamaica Rifle Association.

Lieutenant Colonel Neath is an avid motor sports fan and an accomplished Scrabble player. He and his wife Odette have three sons.
