Warrant Office Class One Lennox Ingram
Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Lennox Augustus Ingram was appointed the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) for the Second Battalion The Jamaica Regiment (2 JR) in November 2009.
Lennox Ingram was born in Porus in the parish of Manchester on February 16, 1961. He received primary and secondary education at Porus Primary and Manchester High Schools respectively. He graduated from high school in 1978, where he obtained six passes in the Jamaica School Certificate Examination (JSCE), and two passes in the General Certificate of Examination Ordinary Level (GCE O’Level).
Ingram enlisted in the Jamaica Defence Force in 1981, and completed his basic recruit training at the Military Training Wing (then JDF Training Depot) Newcastle, where he was adjudged Best Recruit for his intake (Intake 42). This was the commencement of a distinguished military career.
WO1 Ingram has had the distinct privilege of attending several military and professional courses both locally and internationally to include Regimental Sergeant Major, Field Firing Qualification (Belize), Service Funds, Warrant Officer Class II, All Arms Senior Drill Instructor (UK), Pre-Commando, All Arms Weapons Instructor (UK), and Potential/Junior/Senior NCO Cadres. He is a qualified Battalion Weapons Instructor, Battalion Drill Instructor and Range Qualified up to Stage 5. He is also the recipient of a certificate in Supervisory Management from the Institute of Management and Production.
He has many years of training experience. Most noteworthy are those of Chief Instructor – Advanced Drill Instructor Course 2009, Instructor FFQ Course 2007 and Coach of 2 JR Battalion Shooting Team from 2005-2006.
In a career spanning many years, he has attained the top position in the enlisted rank in his unit, having being promoted to the rank of WO1 and appointed RSM of 2 JR. RSM Ingram has held several key appointments such as Section 2IC, Section Commander, Platoon Sergeant (Recruit), Training Sergeant (Cadre), Platoon Sergeant, (Rifle Company), Company Quartermaster Sergeant, Acting Company Sergeant Major, 2IC Support Platoon – 2JR, Company Sergeant Major and Drill Sergeant – 2JR.
RSM Ingram served overseas, in Grenada, as a part of Operation “Urgent Fury” and was awarded the Medal of Honour for General Service. He is also a recipient of the Medal of Honour for Long Service and Good Conduct.
An avid sportsman, he participated in a variety of sporting activities for the military. His hobbies include listening to music, cooking and reading.
RSM Ingram is married to Angela, a doting dad of two children – Darren and Brittney, and step-dad to Lezanne and Carelia. |
